Night vision cameras will usually have color in the day and switch to black and white with infrared illuminators or leds for illumination of a dark night time scene. Today's cameras can deliver full color during the day and crisp high resolution infrared surveillance at night. With built-in light sensors the security camera is intelligent to decipher the available light and autmatically switch to night time infared mode. Although many color security cameras have low light requirments they will still fail in most cases to capture detail in extreme or no light environments.
